Park Family Story Lab

Interactive activities designed for ImaginOn as well as changing exhibits and displays. The main feature of this space is the Story Jar, a 40-foot tall spiral structure with over a hundred unique items to spark the story crafters' imagination. The Page Stage is designed like an oversized book where younger visitors can select a background and dress-up in costume for their own starring role. Includes a Puppet Theatre for impromptu productions.

Summer Exhibit: “Framed: Step into Art”

Step inside the framework of famous paintings and experience art like never before in “Framed: Step into Art,” opening at ImaginOn: The Joe and Joan Martin Center on May 20 through Sept. 3.

Children and adults can enjoy a robust noontime meal in Grant Wood’s “Dinner for Threshers,” climb into a tent and explore camping gear in John Singer Sargent’s “Camp at Lake O’Hara,” add corn husks to the flower tower in Diego Rivera’s “Corn Festival” and enter Clementine Hunter’s “Big Chicken” to get behind the reins of a giant rooster.

Summer Exhibit: Some Assembly Required

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is excited to announce the return of summer exhibits to ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center located in Uptown Charlotte at 300 East 7th Street. Some Assembly Required, created in partnership with Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc., kicks off Saturday, May 28, 2022 and will run through Saturday September 3, 2022.

It is important to note this is NOT a Build-A-Bear workshop and no custom bears will be made.
