Program Space

The central Programming Space in Spangler Library hosts daily storytime sessions as well as special performances and programs.

Depending on the day, we host anywhere from one to three interactive storytime experiences each day in our Programming Space (as well as storytime in the First Ward Park across the street). Our 10:30 family storytime for ages 0-5 happens daily and includes a range of books, music, manipulatives, puppets, fingerplays, and flannel stories to help children master basic literacy skills in a wide range of learning styles.

We also offer regular bilingual storytime, yoga storytime, preschool “Listen and Move” storytime, baby storytime, and sensory storytime for children with special needs, and this area of the library also hosts our monthly Paws to Read program where children can boost reading skills and confidence by reading aloud to a volunteer therapy dog, and has been known to host the occasional Rookie Science program, Digital Device training, Story Explorers program, or puppet show.
