Program Space

The central Programming Space in Spangler Library hosts daily storytime sessions as well as special performances and programs.

Depending on the day, we host anywhere from one to three interactive storytime experiences each day in our Programming Space (as well as storytime in the First Ward Park across the street). Our family storytime for ages 0-5 happens daily and includes a range of books, music, manipulatives, puppets, fingerplays, and flannel stories to help children master basic literacy skills in a wide range of learning styles.

We also offer regular bilingual storytime, yoga storytime, preschool “Listen and Move” storytime, baby storytime, and sensory storytime for children with special needs, and this area of the library also hosts our monthly Paws to Read program where children can boost reading skills and confidence by reading aloud to a volunteer therapy dog, and has been known to host the occasional Rookie Science program, Digital Device training, Story Explorers program, or puppet show. Summer Exhibit: Some Assembly Required

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is excited to announce the return of summer exhibits to ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center located in Uptown Charlotte at 300 East 7th Street. Some Assembly Required, created in partnership with Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc., kicks off Saturday, May 28, 2022 and will run through Sunday, September 11, 2022.

It is important to note this is NOT a Build-A-Bear workshop and no custom bears will be made.

ImaginOn is turning 16? Sweet!

ImaginOn opened its doors sixteen years ago and we want to celebrate with you, Saturday, September 25th!

Please join us to help celebrate ImaginOn's Anniversary AND Children's Theatre of Charlotte's opening day for My Wonderful Birthday Suit.  The show is ticketed but the outdoor fun is not!  Here's what is planned:
