The Early Literacy Space in Spangler Library is designed to be a language-rich environment for children 5 and under, featuring several early literacy station touch screen computers.
Increasing in age as you walk through the area, you enter the space under the gaze of a friendly dinosaur, with baby board books and early literacy seedpods at hand, which are interactive and exploratory stations for children to learn basic literacy skills. Picture windows and cushioned seats are plentiful for you to sit and read with your baby or toddler, and the area also offers a family restroom for changing and feeding.
If your child is already into picture books, then our additional shelving units offer a wide array of titles for young readers to develop their listening and reading skills, and our Spangler staff stocks “concept carts” to pull books on topics from learning shapes and colors and the alphabet to recommended titles for preschoolers and early elementary.
