Leaves are falling, and the Library’s Novello Festival of Reading is starting! This annual October series brings together authors and readers for a celebration of books and reading. In addition to a spectacular two-week lineup of nationally known authors, families will surely enjoy the annual children’s street fair, WordPlay Saturday, on October 20 at ImaginOn…with special guest, Kevin Clash (the voice of Elmo)! Audiences exiting the Wizard of Oz can’t stop talking about the music, the acting, the set, the costumes…and the special effects! Did the video version of Oz look familiar? You may recognize him as Russ Reed, one of the Library’s Technology Education staff.
All the projected video effects in the play were created here in Studio-i, by the Children’s Theatre’s John Schlecta, with the help of the Library’s Tech Ed staff, who trained John in the use of Studio-i’s software.

Want to be among the first in 140 years to see North Carolina’s copy of the Bill of Rights? You can be! ImaginOn is proud to be a 3-day stop on the Bill of Rights’ statewide tour!
This precious copy of the first 10 amendments to the US Constitution is one of only 13 copies circulated to the states – and North Carolina’s copy is even more precious because it was missing for over 100 years. It was taken from the State Capitol in 1865, and an undercover FBI investigation recovered it in 2003. It will be available for viewing during regular ImaginOn hours all weekend, and there will be a special lecture by Bill of Rights scholar Julius Chambers at 7pm on Friday.

In celebration of our 60th season, Children's Theatre takes audiences over the rainbow with the magic and excitement of “The Wizard of Oz” (Sept. 28-Oct. 20).
