A brief description about the various volunteer opportunities follows, to help you indicate your interests in an informed way.
Welcome/Information Desk Attendant
We need volunteers to staff the front desk, field frequently asked questions, validate parking, and guide guests and newcomers. There are resources to help you know the answers, but most people simply need simple answers and a friendly face.
Gift Shop Attendant
In the Gift Shop, we need volunteers to help with security when traffic flow is heavy, especially on the weekends. We also need people willing to demonstrate Gift Shop items out in the common areas.
Theatre Usher
Ushers are responsible for helping theatre patrons find their programs and seats at the start of each production and their exit pathways at the end of each production. We need your help to serve our audiences well.
Tour Guide
Volunteer tour guides give tours to groups of young people and those who serve young people. This requires some specialized knowledge of the building. If you're interested in being a tour guide, we recommend starting out as a Welcome/Information Desk Attendant.
Program Assistant
Volunteer program assistants help implement and develop drop-in programs that occur in the public spaces of ImaginOn. This requires some specialized knowledge of the building and procedures. If you're interested in being a program assistant, we recommend starting out as a Welcome/Information Desk Attendant. It's the best way to get to know the building and the people.
Clerical/Special Event Support
This area would require volunteers on an as-needed basis. You would be contacted to help with large mailings, big collations, massive photocopy operations, large public events and other special projects.
Technology Support
In this area, we need folks to lend informal support and guidance in StoryLab. Additional duties may arise in the Tech Central and Studio i areas depending comfort and proficiency.
Circulation Support
Circulation volunteers learn to shelve and repair books and provide help in the check-out area.
