Hours: Tuesdays and Wednesday, 1-3 OR 2-4
Responsibilities: Sort and shelve books and other library materials, shelf reading, checking book drop locations periodically, check in transit bin materials, help with the Holds process, sign up new library users, greet and assist patrons at the Welcome Desk, participate in special projects like in-house maintenance of equipment, and help with general questions and services at the circulation desk.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be 21 years of age with a minimum of two years of high school. All selected candidates must complete a background check.
Knowledge: -Basic understanding of the Dewey Decimal System.
-Excellent alphanumeric skills.
-Ability to understand and follow directions.
-Accuracy, patience, and a tolerance for meticulous work.
-Good vision.
-Ability to get along well with others and communiate pleasantly and effectively with patrons and library staff.
-Neat appearance.
-Ability to exert 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds of force frequently.
-Job requires lifting, pushing, and pulling loaded bins, as well as stooping and standing for long periods of time.
Training: Circulation staff and/or location supervisor will provide orientation and training during regularly scheduled work hours.
