Requirements
Preference will be given to college/university students in a relevant field, such as: education, arts education (theatre, music, visual arts, dance), technology education, library science, children’s literature, recreation, social work, theatre, etc. Potential interns should have a demonstrated commitment to working in their field of focus
What will college interns do?
ImaginOn interns will work in some combination of the following areas, depending upon their education, interests and experience:
- Visitor/Audience Services
- Technology Education & Animation
- Library Services for Children
- Library Services for Teens
- Theatre Education*
- Theatre Production/Technical Theatre*
- Development*
College/University interns selected through the interview and screening process will be placed with a primary department in which their skills and the department needs correlate. Some interns will share time across multiple departments, depending on intern skills/interests and mentor availability. (Please note that an asterisk (*) indicates an early internship application deadline. Please see the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte Website for additional information and deadlines. Note: You may complete either this application or the CTC application for these internships.)

What is the schedule?
Interns will work approximately 15-20 hours per week. Schedules will be determined to accommodate both the intern schedule and ImaginOn needs. Those unable to fulfill this time commitment should consider applying as a volunteer.
What are some important dates to remember?
- Summer Intern Application Deadline: April 1
- Summer Intern Start Date: Mid June
- Fall Intern Application Deadline: June 1* or August 1
- Fall Intern Start Date: Mid September
- Winter Intern Application Deadline: December 15
- Winter Intern Start Date: Mid January
Intern interviews will be conducted as applications are received.
Can I earn course credit?
Yes. If you are a high-school or college student needing to fulfill specific internship requirements, please be sure to share them at the time of your application and interview. We are flexible, but need advance notice to be able to accommodate specific requests. Please make sure you bring all the requirements with you at the time of your interview.
Will I get paid?
You’ll earn invaluable experience. ImaginOn internships are unpaid, volunteer positions. However, you will be actively engaged in program development and implementation. This is not an office-support internship; it is a hands-on experience internship. Imagine what that can do for your resume as well as your future work with young people, the arts, literacy, literature, public service or some combination.
What about parking?
ImaginOn provides parking for volunteers and unpaid interns.
