Listed below are the programs taking place in the next 7 days at ImaginOn. Please note that in some cases, pre-registration is required. Information about Children's Theatre classes, which always require pre-registration, is available on the Children's Theatre website.

Dance Dance Revolution

Dance until you drop! Celebrate the CMS Teacher Workday with Dance Dance Revolution. For teens 12-18 only. Audience: Teens (12-18)


Boogie Woogie Books

Morning storytime for our youngest patrons. Programs last approximately 25 minutes and feature books, songs, and movement. Audience: Babies (0-1), Toddlers (1-3)


6R: Zine Coasters

Create a unique coaster using recycled magazines. For teens 12-18 only. Audience: Teens (12-18)


Lunch Bunch

What are two things every kid loves? Stories and lunch time! At the Lunch Bunch you can hear classic stories, enjoy your lunch, and socialize with the pre-school set. We will head to a special corner of ImaginOn where it is safe to eat and drink. Audience: Pre-school (3-5)


Kids Create

Arts, crafts, and other creative activities. Drop in program. Audience: Elementary (5-11), Pre-school (3-5)


Straight Up Stories

Join us to hear a few of our favorite stories. You never know what you might hear! Funny picture books, folk tales, spooky stories, classic read alouds - and everything in between - may be shared. Audience: Elementary (5-11)


Movie Madness

Sit back and relax, and enjoy a family-friendly movie. Audience: Family/Youth & Caregivers


Board Game Free Play

Celebrate the CMS Teacher Workday with a day of board gaming. Play a classic game like chess or dominoes. Find an old favorite like Uno or Clue. Try out a new game like Zombie Town or Blurt. For teens 12-18 only. Audience: Teens (12-18)


Film & Feedback: World Trade Center

"World Trade Center," rated PG-13, tells the story of John McLoughlin and William Jimeno, two of the last survivors to be rescued from Ground Zero, and the rescue teams that never gave up their search. For teens 13-18 only. Audience: Teens (12-18)


Can You Build It?

Take your building skills to the next level as we challenge you to create Lego racecars, foam block skyscrapers, or giant flowers on the floor. Audience: Elementary (5-11)


Studio i: Comic Animations Workshop

September's featured Studio i workshop is "Comic Animations." During "Comic Animations," children will learn how to bring their favorite comic book characters to life in an animated film. Audience: Family/Youth & Caregivers, Elementary (5-11)


Family Storytime

All ages are welcome at our Family Storytime sessions on Saturday mornings. Songs, stories, and more will be shared. Come prepared to listen, laugh, sing, and move! Audience: Family/Youth & Caregivers


Discover ImaginOn

Whether you are a regular or a first time visitor to ImaginOn, this program will help you discover new things about our unique facility. Learn what makes ImaginOn a green building, go on a special scavenger hunt, and more! Audience: Elementary (5-11)


REEL Love: Teens Take on Healthy Relationships

Join us for a film screening and discussion of "REEL Love", a teen-produced film on dating violence and healthy relationships. The event will feature snacks, door prizes, and information on an upcoming video and music contest for teens. Audience: Teens (12-18), Family/Youth & Caregivers


Online Gaming with other Libraries

Super Smash Brothers FTW! ImaginOn vs. Detroit Public Library. Audience: Teens (12-18)


Studio i: Comic Animations Workshop

Study Zone Sunday

ImaginOn is open on Sundays again! Drop by any Sunday during the school year to take advantage of Study Zone Sunday (SZS). Audience: Teens (12-18)


Tuesday Flicks: The Last Song

Grab a bag of popcorn and enjoy a great movie every Tuesday. Today's feature is "The Last Song," rated PG. For teens 12-18 only. Audience: Teens (12-18)


Celebrate Make a Hat Day

This program is part of our ongoing "Celebrate" programs, where on select afternoons we honor unique holidays. Offerings will include crafts, games and other fun activities. Audience: Elementary (5-11)


Guy Talk

The Loft's guys-only discussion group meets monthly to talk about issues facing male teens. For teens 12-18 only. Audience: Teens (12-18)


Wordplay Wednesday: Mad Libs

Create your own mad libs, an original fill-in-the-blank story that's bound to be hilarious. For teens 12-18 only. Audience: Teens (12-18)


DIY Day: Locker Crafts

Is your locker already a mess? Drop by and create a message board, pencil case or notebook holder that's sure to add both style and organization to your locker. For teens 12-18 only. Audience: Teens (12-18)
