Storytime (Ages 0-11)
A library storyteller will lead your group in stories, interactive activities and songs. During the 30-minute storytime, students engage in a range of story-based hands-on activities which could include: read aloud, storytelling, singing, story games, felt-board retellings, crafts—and so much more! If a group is less than 50 students, two or more groups may be combined. If you are interested in arranging a regular monthly storytime, please explain that in your request.
Children's Library Services Tour (Ages 0-11)
A librarian guides your group through the Spangler Library’s many features and services for young library patrons. With enough advance notice and planning, this tour can be geared to a specific theme or interest area, if desired.
Teen Library Services Tour (Ages 12-18)
A librarian orients teens to services available in the Loft, including the collection, technology services, and the space.
Children's Theatre Drama/Theatre Workshop (Ages 3-18; $100 for 1 hour session; $50 for 30-minute session) $$
Led by a Children’s Theatre teaching artist, students explore stories through dramatization, creative movement or improvisation as appropriate. Older students engage in improvisational theatre activities that emphasize acting techniques and spontaneous actions. Sessions can incorporate classic and current children’s or teen literature connections.
Technology Workshop (Ages 3-18))
A tech-education librarian helps students explore age-appropriate software and websites. May be geared to a specific exploration of animation software or research topic with enough advance notice.
Studio i Animation Sneak Preview (Ages 12-18)
A tech-education librarian provides an overview of the animation process as well as the cameras and technology support available for 12 to 18-year-olds in Studio i. Students view samples of work created in Studio i and find out about drop-in hours and procedures for their future independent visit.
Imagination Rotation (Ages 5-11)
Elementary students with chaperones in large groups are divided into smaller groups and move through a scheduled rotation between Spangler Library, Tech Central, Story Lab and other independent activity stations. Note date and time requirements.
Imagination Rotations are designed to facilitate larger groups. Please consider a different programming option or consider a self-guided visit.
